Abstract

Paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM) is a deep systemic mycosis, endemic to rural areas of Central and South America, caused by thermodimorphic fungi of the genus Paracoccidioides spp. The morphology of the mucocutaneous lesions is variable and depends on the state of immunity of the host and the virulence of the fungus. In the chronic form, more than 50% of patients exhibit mucosal involvement, contrasting with skin involvement observed in 25% of cases. We present the case of a patient with PCM who was treated in our service.
