Abstract

Tinea or dermatophytosis are superficial fungal infections whose etiological agents correspond to a group of fungi called dermatophytes. There are three genera of dermatophytes (Microsporum, Trichophyton and Epidermophyton) with worldwide distribution. They are classified taking into account their natural habitat. Zoophiliacs are found in animals. The infection occurs through contact and subsequent adherence of the fungus. The diagnostic method is focused on direct examination and the definitive identification of the fungus performed through the culture. The case of a patient with a tinea incognita lesion caused by Trichophyton Erinacei is presented.
