Abstract

Transient lingual papillitis (TLP) corresponds to the acute, painful and transient inflammation of one or more fungiform lingual papillae. It can occur in both children and adults, and its etiology is multifactorial. It is characterized by small papules on the dorsum of the tongue, with localized or generalized involvement. The diagnosis is clinical, and the treatment consists of relieving symptoms and correcting triggering factors. In this article we present a child and an adult with idiopathic TLP.
