Abstract

Cellular neurothekeoma (CNT) is a rare, benign tumor of the head, neck and upper extremities, more common in young female patients. Historically, CNT was considered nerve sheath myxomas. Recently distinct histologic and immunophenotypic features have shown they represent a separate entity with fibrohistiocytic lineage. Clinical findings of cellular neurothekeoma are non-specific, generally being misdiagnosed with other tumors. Dermoscopy clues include arborizing vessels, which is the dermoscopic hallmark of basal cell carcinoma. We present a young female patient with a cellular neurothekeoma. Differential diagnosis, dermoscopy findings and treatment are discussed.
