Abstract

Chronic lichen simplex is a skin disease accompanied by neurological dysfunction, characterized by lichenification and intense pruritus.

Its prevalence is higher in women between 30 and 50 years of age.

There are different treatments: occlusion of the area, emollients, topical corticosteroids, tacrolimus and pimecrolimus, phototherapy, antihistamines, anxiolytics and application of botulinum toxin, among others.

Liquid nitrogen cryotherapy inhibits the nerve endings in the affected area, and blocks the vicious cycle of itching and scratching.
