Abstract

According to a guide published in 2020 in the Journal of Leprology, the World Health Organization (WHO) advises post-exposure prophylaxis with a single dose of rifampicin, after ruling out leprosy and tuberculosis, and in the absence of contraindications, for close contacts of leprosy patients aged 2 or older, and in high-prevalence regions. This practice is designed to facilitate and standardize the implementation of contact tracing.
