Abstract

Born in Arequipa, Peru, under the name of José Mario Pedro Vargas Llosa, he is one of the most important writers of the contemporary era. A Spanish national since 1993, he has garnered the greatest awards in Literature, such as the Rómulo Gallegos (1967), Príncipe de Asturias (1986), Planeta (1993), Cervantes (1994) and Nobel (2010) awards.
