Abstract

Basal cell carcinoma is the most prevalent malignant neoplasm and a very frequent pathology of dermatological consultation.

Conventional surgery and Mohs micrographic surgery represent the first treatment option, but there are numerous second-line alternatives such as topical treatment with 5-fluorouracil or imiquimod, cryosurgery and photodynamic therapy, with lower response rates and higher recurrence rates.
