Abstract

Keratodermaclimatericum occurs in menopausal women in supportive sites without a family history of keratoderma. It can be painful and can disturb ambulation. The diagnosis is made by exclusion with other causes. Keratinocytes and mast cells express aromatase and estrogen receptors alpha and beta and can be a source of extragonadal estrogens. The disease has been associated with hormonal dysregulation. A 52-year-old patient was prescribed vaginal cream with 0.125 mg / g estrogens topically daily with 50% urea and clobetasol every other day The last two were discontinued after 2 months as improvement was evident The safety and efficacy of topical estrogens were demonstrated.
