Abstract

Sialolithiasis consists in the obstruction of the salivary glands by the presence of a sialolith. It is a multifactorial entity since the composition of the saliva and the anatomy of the duct contribute to its formation. The most frequent clinical manifestations are swelling and colic pain. The diagnosis is made with the history and physical examination. It has a favorable prognosis with few complications.
