Abstract

Generalized hyperpigmentation is not a very frequent consultation reason. However, in some cases it can have serious causes that require a quick intervention such as that caused by metastasic melanoma or as a first symptom of Addison’s disease. In this, if not treated promptly, acute adrenal crisis can result in death. We present the case of a patient who consults with dermatology for generalized hyperpigmentation of skin and mucous caused by primary adrenal insufficiency or Addison’s disease.
