Eosinophilic ulcer of the tongue
Keywords:
eosinophilic ulcer, oral cavity, tongueAbstract
Traumatic granuloma with stromal eosinophilia or eosinophilic ulcer is a rare inflammatory, benign condition that affects the oral cavity, in particular the tongue. Histologically, it is characterized by a denuded epithelium with granulomatous inflammation and abundant eosinophils, sometimes there may be lymphocytic atypia simulating a CD30 positive lymphoproliferative process. It is usually autoinvolutive, although it may be treated with topical or systemic corticosteroids, or surgical excision. We must remember it among the differential diagnoses of oral cavity ulcers.
