Clear cell acanthoma. A clinicopathological study of 10 cases

Clear cell acanthoma (CCA) was described as a rare benign epidermal tumor, at present it is not so exceptional although its etiopathogenesis is still unknown. In recent years the inflammatory nature of this lesion has been claimed. Most CCAs are solitary and are located in the lower portion of the legs. The treatment of choice is surgical excision. In the present work, 10 patients with CCA are described, diagnosed clinically and histopathologically in our service between 2009 and 2016, with a range between 50 and 77 years. Complete surgical excision of the lesion was performed in 8 patients, with complete resolution, without complications or subsequent recurrence. Excep-tionally, curettage and subsequent electrocoagulation of the lesion was performed in one patient, who also did not present recurrence to the date, and expectant management was decided in the case of another patient, given his comorbidities and his refusal to perform exeresis with stability throughout the years.
