Abstract

Ameloblastoma is a rare and benign tumor that develops from odontogenic epithelium. It is characterized by a slow growth and a locally invasive behavior. Originally, there are three subtypes of ameloblastoma: unicystic ameloblastoma, multicystic solid ameloblastoma and peripheral extraosseous ameloblastoma. The last one may be presented as painless exophytic tumor, with smooth, papillary or warty surface. The recommended treatment is the surgical removal with safety margins due to the risk of recurrence and reports of malignancy. We present a patient with diagnosis of peripheral ameloblastoma.
