Abstract

The reproduction of images of patients, initially through drawings, was developed in medicine, from its inception, with an educational approach. Over time, it was considered a common practice, especially in some specialties such as dermatology. For example, in 1798, Sir Robert Willan hired several talented artists to draw dermatoses in his book Description and treatment of cutaneous diseases.
