Abstract

Hand foot and mouth disease is an acute, self resolving, vesicular exanthema and enanthema which affects mainly children, classi-cally caused by the Coxsackie A16 and Enterovirus 71. This disease is infrequent in adult cases. Since 2008, hand foot and mouth disease outbreaks caused by another virus, Coxsackie A6, have been reported worldwide. The atypical cutaneous presentation and the highest per-centage of adult patients are striking. We are presenting 3 cases of hand foot and mouth disease in adult patients that don’t have a re-levant medical history. The method reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) has been highlighted for the specific diagno-sis of this enterovirus serotype.
