Abstract

Erythromelalgia is a rare clinical syndrome; characterized by the triad of pain, erythema and hyperthermia, located in acral areas. The triggers of the clinical manifestations are heat and physical exercise.

We report the case of a hospitalized patient with a diabetic ketoacidosis, who develops erythromelalgia in palms, secondary to hyperglycemia episodes. This unusual precipitant has not been reported before and only four cases of erythromelalgia secondary to diabetes mellitus are reported in the consulted literature.
