Abstract

The term collodion baby has been used to describe a transitory condition of the newborn, consisting in the presence of a translucent, adherent membrane that covers almost the entire body. It represents the initial feature of many diseases, the most frequent being lamellar ichthyosis and congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma. We present a series of 14
patients born as collodion babies and an updated revision of the literature.
