Cutaneous manifestations in hypothyroid patients

Resumen

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to evaluate the most frequent skin maniestations of patients with hypothyroidism and to compare them to a control group. This is a case-control, analityc, observational, and prospective study over consecutive patients controlled in the Dermaology, Endocrinology and Internal Medicine Departments, University Clinic Reina Fabiola, (Córdoba, Rep. Argentina) between September 2003 and December 2006. A total of 135 patients with hipothyroidism were  included, as well as 135 control patients. The skin signs
most frequently found in our series, statistically signifi cant in univariae analysis, were melasma, xerosis, acne and tellogen effl uvium. The results that we obtained were similar to published data

(Dermatol Argent 2008;14(3):196-199).
